That’s a tear jerker right there.

Heartbreaking.

I feel pretty awful about how he was treated.

Hope he joins a big club and smashes it!

I’d be stunned if he gets a gig at a big club, as good as he was, I think it’s pretty common knowledge now that he’s finished.

Like I said earlier, I think people underestimate the esteem and respect he has in the football world. If any of the top clubs lose a manager this summer, I wouldn’t be surprised if they tapped Arsene.

A reset at another club is probably exactly what he needs. I don’t think Wenger has lost it, he was just at Arsenal too long. He needs a change of scenery. Guy is a living legend, wouldn’t be surprised if a big team comes in.

We will have to agree to disagree on this one.

He’s a great man and been brilliant for Arsenal, but sentiment aside I think everyone knows he’s done as a top manager, so I’d be stunned if he got offered a top job out of respect.

I think these days a lot of that respect is down to him being an awesome human being and great guy rather than a fantastic manager.

Also fuck me that BBC three vid, that was sad AF.

From 1:00 onwards with the shot of Thierry in Paris

Exactly and I can’t see a top European club offering him a managers position because of that.

Worse managers have been hired for less at big clubs lol

If Zidane fucked up royally and got sacked tomorrow I think Wenger would be in the running as a potential candidate with a strong chance.

I’m actually fairly certain Emery will get the sack and Wenger taking over at PSG would seem like a natural choice.

All I’m saying is that if Moyes can get the United job and Benitez can get the Real Madrid job then Wenger can do the same.

Now there might not be an opening at Barca or Real which is a different matter all together.

I think Tuchel is a near certainty for PSG according to reports.

Moyes is one thing Benitez is another. Benitez won the CL and is a known tactical quantity.

Wenger is just a roll of the dice without a CL on his resume and a decade of tactical vomit. Big clubs don’t want that unknown on the tactical side.

Did anyone watch Gilette Soccer Saturday yesterday? I enjoy watching it as opposed to aby other football show. I missed it yesterday. Would’ve preferred to watch it to see what the views on Wenger were

Wenga would do well with French, imo.

Haha mate no offence, but that is bullshit!

That CL win was 13 years ago! I guess it was more like 10/11 years ago when he joined Real Madrid, but he didn’t have any league titles since 2004 and was basically seen as a spent force.

If you’re going to argue Benitez was a valid choice for the Real job because of the one CL win, then Wenger definitely counts as a valid contender with a CL final, 3 league titles, 2 domestic doubles, an unbeaten season and 7 FA cup trophies.

Ok I guess Rafa had the EL trophy too, but Wenger could still have one of those at the end of the season.

Yeah. If they haven’t done their homework at PSG.

Same can be said about Benitez. From day 1 there was noise from (some) supporters. That was a proper brainfart move by Real.

I think it’s Wengers age more than anything that will rule him out of being appointed to a top job again.

I agree.
I like Lineker but when he derided Wenger at the end of a MOTD, he went down a level in my estimation.

You’re right, the media ran scared of Ferguson and, until occasionally this season, they were the same with Mourinho.

Other managers did it as well.
I can remember incidents with Ferguson, Mourinho, Allardyce, Pulis, Hughes, etc, where they were disrespectful of Wenger, when all he showed them was civility.

Ive wanted him to leave for a long time, but I respect him as a man who has class and who is highly articulate.
He can say something more meaningful in a single sentence than most other managers could in a book.

People like Lineker, and plenty of other pundits who resort to cheap insults, might have been great players but they won’t attain the reputation Wenger has, because he has transformed the PL, and the influence he’s had on the game has been more significant than any other manager or player.

His stubbornness and principles might have cost him his job, and he probably stayed a few seasons too long, but if the players that have let him down so often this season, can turn it round and win him his first European trophy, it will be a fitting finale to his Arsenal career.
