Golf

As a very keen golfer myself, play off a 6 handicap currently. It has been an interesting season so far with 3 maiden major victories. Willett (Masters) Johnson (US Open) and Stenson (The Open). The final major of the year has been brought forward because of the Olympics and kicks off today (The PGA) so will it be another maiden victory for someone or will one of the favourites win.

Professional Golf is very wide open at the moment, the level of talent is amazing. I wouldnt be surprised if we do get another maiden victory this weekend.I really hope Westwood or Garcia win.

Anyone else interested in the great game of Golf ?

I’m with you, would love to see Westwood or Garcia win. I think Garcia is the better bet for a win out of the 2

Mickelson has to be in with a chance if he take his Open form in to this event. Rose is decent value as well at 33/1. Not had a great season but still solid

I agree also, I would love to see Westwood or Garcia win a major, however I honestly don’t see it happening now, or in the future. I know Westy finished runner up recently but that was more down to others falling away, rather than him storming up the field…

With regards to this PGA I have to be honest, I can’t see past McIlroy, think the course suits him, and he’s not far off his game, so Rory for me, by 4 shots…

Paul Casey going well currently at 2 under. Rory not so, at +2 after 5.

I might have a sneaky fiver on Brandan Grace, quite fancy him at this.

Finally a thread! I’ve thought of creating one at the old forum but never got down to it.
This season has been fun to watch, mainly because the majors have been so close to each other because of the olympics. I’m sure the players themselves won’t agree, but as a fan and keen golfer myself it’s been good.

Must say that I’m very happy that a swede (finally!!!) won a major, and the Open of them all! The last round between Stenson and Mickelson has to be one of the best rounds I’ve seen for years. Mickelson played fantastic, but Stenson played even better. Hope for more duels like that.

Regarding the olympics I’ll wait with my judgement until after. Golf was accepted to the olympics when Tiger was on top, I bet they hoped he still would be. Golf doesn’t need the olympics. And if so id rather see amateurs play, as in Olympic boxing where only amateurs are allowed.

My thoughts exactly, Pro golf has no place at the Olympics, same thoughts on Tennis. If you include the sport it should be amateur, same as boxing.

What is everyone’s best round ever? Mine is 78 I shot at a local course called Jester Park.

I’m normally a mid-80’s to low 90’s player. Don’t play enough to have a good short game is my main problem.

Up until this year I was shooting on average around mid to late 70’s on a par 70 course. This year I have been able to get out more and am shooting Mid 70’s consistently. I shot a 71 gross about 4 weeks ago 3 bogeys 2 birdies.

Current handicap is 5.5

Sergio just gone two shots clear after 3!

Really keen on Justin Rose finally having his day tho :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:

EDIT: Rose birdies 3 in a row, shares the lead at -8 :sunglasses::sunglasses:

I’d usually stay up and watch but I’m way too tired. Hoping to wake to news of Garcia’s first major!

This is a seriously epic shoot out between Garcia and Rose. :sunglasses:

Just can’t beat the Masters for knife edge sporting drama imo

well done to Garcia.

However, must say that if Pieters didn’t stuff up yesterday, he would’ve been right up in there!

Small margins, but I think it was the14th when Rose missed a birdie putt and Garcia saved a bogey putt to prevent the 2 shot lead looking more unassailable at 4 shots
